MVA Services

There are four areas in which Midlothian Voluntary Action will carry out its work and within each area a set of key tasks:

Key Tasks

  1. Support Services
    • Provide information to voluntary bodies on issues which affect them and the communities they serve;
    • Provide practical support services for existing organisations;
    • Provide or assist in the provision of training opportunities for voluntary organisations, their management committee, staff and volunteers;
    • Provide advice and information on funding;
    • Provide direct services to voluntary organisations where appropriate.

  2. Representation & Joint Working
    • Assist organisations to make well informed input to joint planning and other strategy developments;
    • Assist the voluntary sector at local level to influence policy development;
    • Develop a basis for campaigning on issues of concern.

  3. Voluntary Sector Initiatives
    • Help in the formation of new organisations with the aim of meeting unmet needs and providing representation.

  4. Organisation & Finance
    • Establish goals and values;
    • Adopt and adhere to a legal constitution;
    • Provide management support;
    • Ensure effective financial control;
    • Be an effective team player.
