The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) applies to anyone holding information about living individuals in electronic format and in some cases on paper. The most important source of information on Data Protection is the Information Commissioner's Office www.ico.gov.uk. It holds extensive information on the holding of information by organisations and also on the rights of the individual.
